Pen Sketches

I drew these mini portraits the other day, while waiting for my friends to arrive. It was tricky and very challenging because I was drawing straight with a pen. Every stroke is irreversible! It's good practice, though, and actually fun to do.

from The Three Musketeers 2011 movie
this is one of Irish's favorite dudes. I haven't drawn him correctly, though.haha

Studies Dec 2011

They say that it's better to work on something bit by bit than try to come up with the whole thing in one sitting. I wonder when I'll have time and creativity to finish a real piece. Everything is mostly studies...since I'm juggling things with internship, thesis and other personal projects. But there are fun moments, especially in class or at the studio with my fluffers, Irish. She's been real supportive of me. I feel relaxed when she's around. :) Anyway, here are some dumb sketches.. Although I like the snowy mountains one.

here I once again tried to produce the traditional textures of oil paintings

this is just a study/doodle mimicking those warped sky anime perspectives

And because Fluffers wanted to see my dogs in their doghouse-apartment thing, I decided to show it off here too. They're so snug and feeling safe especially now since it rains here all the time and fireworks are starting to pop in the air. I only mostly see them in the evenings now but I miss playing with them. Oh, they don't really look that scary. They're actual very nice and sweet. That's just the flash from my camera ruining their image hahahaha!

Lily Catastrophe!

Well, I wanted to paint something different. It's something inspired by Claude Monet, Van Gogh and the classic technique of Impressionism. It turned out a bit messier and muddier than what I had in mind. But I feel like I'm getting the hang of using textured brushes but it's insane having to keep changing brushes. Like in traditional art, one brush might be able to get all of this done but it might take forever? Hmmmm.

WIP: Oct 2011

Another something I'm practicing with. I should really finish all my wips so I can post something on this blog ha ha ha. I actually like this one the way it is and thought of keeping it this way. The texturing still needs work but I like the colors a lot. Maybe I'll put it up as one standard pallet.

Digipaint: Sunset

Well I finished something. Not exactly the result I had in mind, oh well. Still trying to find the proper way to get the traditional texture feel on digital painting. But that's a funny idea too because if I really wanted the 'traditional' look, I should just do traditional right? Digital artwork has its own strengths and textures. But I still want to try.

WIP: July 2011

Just some wips/failed speed paint for this week. Still trying to get the feel for Photoshop. I can't quite work with it the same way like traditional paints. But I have to learn! Somebody teach me properly, please! XD

Note to Self: Keep Practicing!

Ever since school started, I haven't been able to draw much personal stuff. What makes it feel bad is the fact that my younger classmates can conceptualize and draw CLEAN, FULL BODY CHARACTER DESIGNS IN ONE HOUR. (although, it's just concepts, not rendered yet at least.) I realize I still have a lot lacking in my skills and I really must practice and I mean, A LOT OF PRACTICE!

Anyway, I've been doing a lot of quick sketches (mostly of people at school). Here's one of my friend, Abby, and my professor, Alfred Borres. While drawing on Cintiq and Photoshop is nice, I can't really stay long. It makes my eyes hurt staring too long on the computer and I'm just really terrible at it, okay. I hope I don't have to get glasses.

Also, my friends have opened up their own blogs. Hooray! They have amaaaaazing artwork! Please visit their blogs as well and show them some love.

Thank you so much! :D

Digital Methodology

Some more artworks and illustrations from my digital methodology class. I'm not sure if I should upload these weird photomanipulations...because they're weird? I wanted to rant about how the professor in my class seems like he doesn't know much about the class he's teaching but that would be bad form. Instead, let me tell you how self-studying and self-discipline does wonders. But I feel it would be more efficient if someone showed me how..yet the greatest masters of any profession persevered through all their mistakes and personally honed their skills.

Anyway, it's my first time doing photo manipulations. While it has its fun, it's not entirely fulfilling. It would be more interesting for me if I were learning how to edit those cool movie posters and stuff.

NO REAL PLOT!

Welcome to the revised blog! Debuting with a new blog title, "NO REAL PLOT!" which we might use for the webcomic we're making. Also, a character sketch.
